Paint the cabinets or replace them

It depends on the cabinets. If they're solid wood in good shape and you like the profile of the doors, they're worth keeping and painting. If they're poor quality, you're better off replacing them, more so if you don't like the style or the finish.

North Merrick's honey oak stayed and went white, with new light counters. Bellmore and Massapequa Park went white too. In Upper Brookville and Floral Park we refinished them in sage green.

We call that a kitchen makeover: paint on the cabinets, maybe a new floor and backsplash, and no gut.

When the cabinets come out

North Bellmore's cherry cabinets came out, and white shakers went in around a light wood island. In Woodbury the cream cabinets made way for white ones and a gray island.

Sometimes the room itself changes. In New Hyde Park a corner that held the laundry is a kitchen now. We drew the Bronx kitchen in 3D before work started, and the finished room follows the drawing.

“I stopped into Class Remodeling and they talked me through the whole process… Cabinets came and were hung to perfection.”

What a kitchen remodel costs on Long Island

For a kitchen about 10 by 10, a makeover runs about $3,000 to $15,000, and a full gut about $15,000 to $40,000. Bigger kitchens with high-end picks can reach $200,000 or $250,000. These are typical ranges, not quotes. The size of the room and what you choose decide most of it.

How long it takes

With everything from stock (cabinets, counters, backsplash and floor), a makeover can take four or five days and a full gut about 30. Some of those kitchens we finished within 3 weeks of the day the customer settled on the plan.

Cabinets, counters and floors

We supply and install cabinets from every line we carry. Our crew puts in the counters and floors, and licensed contractors do the plumbing and electric.

More kitchens are in our kitchen before and after photos. Whole houses are under full-home remodeling, and bathrooms under bathroom remodeling.

How a job runs

It starts with a phone call, so we can both tell whether it's a good fit. The estimate over the phone costs nothing, and photos or a video of your kitchen are enough for us to price it.

Then bring your pics, videos and wishlist to the showroom. Your price comes from how much work the kitchen needs and what you pick out there. Once you've said yes, or paid a good-faith deposit, we usually do 3D drawings.

After the deposit we hold whatever is in our warehouse for you and order the rest. When it has all arrived, we call you to book the dates.
